AIAS Logistica - The horrendous delivery story
Summary
The Order
I ordered a 5000L water cistern from Tecnomat (Ragusa) after confirming I would only be available to take delivery on April 16th or 17th. My contact at Tecnomat assured me this wouldn’t be an issue. On March 15th, I placed the order and paid for it in full. The price included the cistern, processing fees, and delivery charges.
On April 2nd, AIAS Logistica contacted me to arrange delivery. I reiterated that, as agreed with Tecnomat, delivery had to occur on April 16th or 17th. The representative assured me this wouldn’t be a problem. We targeted the 16th, and I agreed to contact them a couple of days before.
On April 14th, I called AIAS Logistica to confirm the delivery date. The representative said he would get back to me. He called on the 15th, confirming delivery for the 16th.
We spent the entire day on the 16th waiting for a delivery that never arrived. No one contacted us about any changes to the schedule.
On the 17th, I called AIAS Logistica and reemphasized our limited availability, as well as the fact that we had wasted an entire day waiting. When I pointed out their poor service, I received only a weak excuse about the driver being sick. When I asked why no one had the basic courtesy to inform us about the non-delivery, I was given more inadequate excuses.
Given the situation, I decided to contact Tecnomat and update them, as I was beginning to doubt AIAS’s ability to perform the service they had been contracted to provide. After speaking with the company, Tecnomat contacted me to assure me that the delivery would take place on the 18th before noon.
On the 18th, AIAS Logistica contacted me, asking that I reach out to their deliveryman directly with GPS directions.
Getting to My Property
The Delivery Man
When I contacted the delivery driver, he sounded irritated and uncooperative. He demanded I message him directions to the property. I explained that I usually meet people near the church to guide them via the better road, but he kept repeating, “No. Send me the exact directions to your property.” I sent the directions via SMS as requested.
Later, he called demanding I send the directions through WhatsApp. I tried reasoning with him again, but he only repeated, “Send me the exact directions to your property.” I complied.
He eventually arrived in front of my property, parking about 2 meters from the entrance. When I asked him to drive up to the top (as the property is on an incline), he refused, claiming delivery was only to the door and that I should have read the delivery conditions.
The cistern’s dimensions were 220 cm × 173 cm × 192 cm and needed to be positioned at the top of a sharp incline.
I attempted to reason with the delivery person, but his only response was that he was required to deliver to the edge of the property and that I should have read the conditions beforehand.
He had a forklift, and when I suggested using it to avoid manually dragging the cistern up the incline, he claimed the forklift was too low to operate on grassy ground. I pointed out that if he reversed the van so the tail lift extended onto the cement, this problem would be solved. His reply remained unchanged: delivery was to the property border only.
I called AIAS Logistica, who then contacted the driver. They called back to inform me that their delivery man claimed the van was too wide to pass through the gate. That gate is 4.2 meters wide, and in all the years it has existed, no one has ever made such a claim. I rebuilt the property, furnished it, and received countless deliveries of all shapes and sizes without any problems. I pointed out that their delivery person was being deliberately difficult with no concern for the customer or the inconvenience he was causing as a representative of AIAS Logistica.
I also contacted Tecnomat, who confirmed that delivery was not limited to the property border and that the driver should have taken it up the incline.
AIAS Logistica contacted their delivery person and told him I had complained about his difficult behavior. He demanded, somewhat aggressively, to know why I made such a statement, and I reiterated what I’ve written above.
He dropped the cistern in the middle of the road and left.
Conclusion
Based on my experience, AIAS Logistica is a company that operates on unreliability, and poor customer service. Their failure to honor appointments, communicate changes, or provide adequate delivery service demonstrates a profound disregard for customers. Companies that employ such delivery services risk damaging their own reputation by association.
When placing an order for delivery, I strongly advise you to explicitly request that companies like AIAS Logistica not be used for your deliveries. Be specific about this requirement before finalizing any purchase. Otherwise, you may find yourself subjected to the same frustrating, time-wasting, and physically demanding experience I endured. Your time and peace of mind are worth protecting from such unprofessional service providers.
